A rigorous rim-to-river backpack of four or more days, tracing one of the North Rim’s most difficult trails; for experienced Grand Canyon hikers only. The 2-mile round-trip to historic Muav Saddle cabin offers a unique destination for a short day hike. Many hikers, however, continue on to Powell Plateau. The rugged, brushy, and obscure North Bass Trail is demanding. The 9-mile round-trip to the top of the Redwall is a good destination for seasoned hikers, where they will enjoy fine views into lower Muav Canyon and Shinumo Amphitheater.
