An immense travertine hill with a pit in the middle, about 50 feet across, with hot spring water in the bottom. The hill is visible from miles away and truly awe-inspiring upon inspection. Although it is impossible to bathe at the main source, there are other smaller sources at the base of the hill. One of the most amazing geologic features in the state, Diana’s Punch Bowl is aptly titled. In the middle of the travertine hill is a large cavern that drops almost 30 feet to a large pool of hot water below. The cavern is about 50 feet across, and its walls are completely vertical. BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL HERE! If you fall in, there is a good chance you won’t be coming but in one piece. Keep a tight hold on pets and animals. I do not recommend driving onto the hill, since the spring is only a short walk from the base. This caution applies particularly at night, when you could easily drive right into the cavern.
