Carlon Falls is a magnificent 35-foot cataract on the South Fork Tuolumne River. The waterfall cascades over wide granite ledges into a large pool surrounded by boulders. The falls was named after Donna Carlon, owner of a resort built in 1919 just inside the park boundary. The hike begins in the Stanislaus National Forest on the banks of the river and crosses into the western region of Yosemite National Park. The trail follows the north side of the river upstream to the pool and waterfall.
