This hike leads down to Vikingsholm, a Scandinavian style mansion completed in 1929 that resembles an 11th century Viking Castle. It is a popular trail that passes numerous water cascades to the shores of Lake Tahoe's spectacular, three-mile long, glacier-carved Emerald Bay. At the bay is a beach and picnic area offering a close-up view of the rocky, 150-foot high Fannette Island, the only island in Lake Tahoe. A short, forested spur trail leads to the foot of Eagle Hills.
