Only 2 miles from a popular summer camp lies a seldom visited, flourishing valley rimmed by steep canyon walls and towering peaks, a hidden jewel that is one of the Ruby Mountains most priceless treasures. The trail passes through some of the most luxuriant vegetation you'll find anywhere in Nevada, alongside one of the most rambunctious creeks, and into a dramatic hanging valley of glacial origin that any mountain range would welcome. Boundless alpine scenery and opportunities for off-trail exploration await the visitor who is willing to invest a bit of effort to reach this truly spectacular area. Despite the unparalleled beauty, the upper canyon of the Right Fork Lamoille Creek is not afforded wilderness protection (a concession to a local heli-skiing operation), but the area is as pristine and magnificent as any in the Ruby Mountains.
