No doubt serving as an important landmark for as long as humans have inhabited this part of the Southwest, Picacho Peak features one of the more challenging short hikes in Arizona. First built by the CCC in 1933 and then improved by Boy Scouts in 1972, the Hunter Trail reaches the top of this forti?ed summit in only 2 miles. Although not recommended for children under ten or inexperienced hikers of any sort, this route offers rewards that few other hikes in the state can.
