This loop hike takes you through several deep canyons in the eastern portion of the Mazatzal Wilderness, and has several options for exploring the several forks of Deer Creek. This hike also starts from one of the few trailheads located next to a paved highway. The trail follows the creek west toward the mountains. Although the stream flow is seasonal, depending on recent rain and snow, the canyon bottom is still delightfully shaded by Arizona sycamores and other streamside trees.
