This is a very easy hike into a red rock canyon in the Red Rock–Secret Mountain Wilderness. Two trails begin at this trailhead. The Dry Creek Trail goes north, and the Vultee Arch Trail goes east. Start out on the Dry Creek Trail, hike 0.6 mile north, and then turn left (northwest) at Bear Sign Canyon, the first side canyon on the left. The trail continues about a mile up Bear Sign Canyon before fading out. It is possible to go farther, but the canyon becomes much rougher. There are great views of the cliffs of the Mogollon Rim, and after wet periods the creek will be running. The vegetation is the usual but still delightful mix of Arizona cypress, pinyon pine, juniper trees, and chaparral brush.
