This is a fine hike through the remote red rock canyons of the Sycamore Canyon and Red Rock–Secret Mountain Wildernesses. A bonus is the return trail across the top of Casner Mountain, which gives you outstanding views of Sycamore Canyon. There is usually water in Sycamore Creek during the spring, but it is dry later in the year. Enough water should be carried for a dry camp if the creek is dry. On the other hand, Sycamore Creek may be flooding and be impassable during snowmelt or after a major storm. In this case you’ll have to make the hike an out and back, which you can do in a day.
