A rugged hike that requires going to the bottom of the Grand Canyon just to reach the trailhead. The hike starts off with several switchbacks, after which you begin to have great views up and down Bright Angel Canyon and beyond. The Civilian Conservation Corps built this well-constructed trail in 1933. At one switchback corner, there is a stone bench, a good place to take off the pack and enjoy the scenery.
