Just half a mile south of the Pescadero State Beach parking area, two narrow paths thread through ice plant, coyote bush, and seasonal wildflowers to small sandy beaches and acres of rocky surf. At very low tide some sea water remains in crevices and pools of many sizes in which sea anemones, small crabs, star fish, and myriad mollusks await the incoming tide. The sea life is delicate and perfectly balanced to survive when there is little or no water at low tide. Look, learn about the marine life, but do not take any specimens of creatures, plants, shells, or rocks. This trail guide includes the following trails: Pebble Beach and Bean Hollow State Beaches, Coastal Access at 10101 Highway I, Pigeon Point Light Station.
