Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve lies along the western crest of the Santa Cruz Mountains in the heart of thousands of acres of public open space. Russian Ridge, Coal Creek, Monte Bello, and Long Ridge open space preserves adjoin Skyline Ridge Preserve. From its highest point, one can see south and west to the nearby forests of Castle Rock and Portola Redwoods state parks and Pescadero Creek County Park. Skyline Ridge Preserve is rich in history, varied in landscape, and easily accessible to a million Peninsula residents. Skyline Ridge’s 2143 acres also include two small reservoirs that lie in the valleys flanking a high central 2493-foot unnamed knoll. Rolling grasslands cover the preserve’s more exposed heights and evergreen forests clothe its steep lower slopes. This trail guide includes the following trails: A Trip Down Historic Old Page Mill Road, A Loop Around Alpine Pond, The Bay Area Ridge Trail, Loop Hike Around the Shores of Horseshoe Lake, Meander Along Lambert Creek.
