An overnight or longer backpack trip providing access to the upper Reese River country and the Toiyabe Crest National Recreation Trail. The Toms Canyon Trail follows Toms Canyon, then crosses a 9,360-foot pass between Peavine and Mahogany Mountains. This pass is a good destination for a day hike. The trail continues north down Trail Creek about 2 miles to join the Toiyabe Crest National Recreation Trail. A three-day loop trip could be completed using the Peavine Canyon Trail, and longer trips could use the Crest Trail and the North Twin River Trail.
