This popular state park that is very close to Denver offers a wide variety of trails you can use to escape from urbanity while enjoying water views with a Rocky Mountain backdrop. You can hike or pedal next to the 850-acre, scenic reservoir or enjoy trails that feature streams, wetlands, waterfowl, and other wildlife. There are 22 trails, and only two are more than 2 miles long, making the park ideal for family outings. There is a swim beach, so you can take a dip and cool off on warm days. The Smoky Hill and Cherry Creek Trails are next to the reservoir. The Pipeline, Wetland, and North and South Connector Trails are more secluded. A dog park allows off-leash dogs.
