We sort of stumbled upon this trail, and it turned out to be another favorite. How can you beat a long day hike in the exquisite Weminuche Wilderness? The hike is loaded with stunning scenery, more than a dozen waterfalls—one of them the 300-foot Fourmile Falls—and a dreamy high mountain lake. The trail condition is excellent nearly the entire trip, with a couple of stream crossings and fine views of neighboring mountains. Starting at 9000 feet and change, we already have glimpses of a few of the high mountains of the beauteous Weminuche, like Quien Sabe and Eagle Peaks. The trail travels soft tread in a forest of monster aspen and Engelmann spruce. The path descends gradually to Fourmile Creek, then up a small hill on the other side. After only about 0.5 mile we arrive at the Weminuche Wilderness boundary, with spectacular views to the north.
