This hike is along the Colorado Trail and along the ridgeline sloping from Kenosha Pass. As the trail passes through a succession of deciduous forest copses and meadows, it makes several stream crossings that offer opportunities for your dog to get wet and to lap water. The trail is not rocky and at times you and your dog can walk side by side. This hike can also be done one-way with a car shuttle. To leave a car at the other end of the trail, drive south past Kenosha Pass for about 5 miles to the town of Jefferson and turn right on Jefferson Lake Road, which is clearly marked. Drive 2 miles, turn right, and follow signs for Jefferson Lake. Continue for 3 miles. Look for a wooden sign on the right that shows Colorado Trail mileage to Kenosha Pass to the right and to Georgia Pass to the left. Pull off on the shoulder and leave one car. The Jefferson Creek Recreation Area has campsites as well as picnic areas. Like the preceding hike, this hike is along the Colorado Trail and along the ridge.
