Though this trail begins with a hard climb, the Parmalee Trail on the back side of the route is most rewarding, rolling through pine forests and open glades. Be sure to take the Turkey Trot Trail on the return and watch for great views of Red Rocks Park to the north. Grade: A stiff initial climb, with a 10 degree average angle of ascent. The descent on the Castle Trail can be treacherous, due to a steep descent and some loose rocks.
