This loop walk starts just short of Confluence Park, continues north along the South Platte River Greenway, and returns on a concrete path completed in 2000 on the opposite side (east bank) of the river, where old railroad yards are being reclaimed for housing, offices, and two parks. Although it’s close to I–25—with several overpasses above the greenway path that connect the downtown to the interstate—the walk is peaceful, because rapids along the river drown out highway noise. In addition, the walk offers unusual vistas of the downtown area, of Union Station, and of the baseball diamond in Coors Field. Despite construction of the parks on the east bank of the river, the area remains little known and is not heavily frequented.
