This is a huge urban open space that offers a variety of experiences, from a glimpse of life on the prairie a hundred years ago to scenic views of the Front Range and a visit to a prairie dog town. Your options include walking on a narrow path adjacent to a restored prairie meadow and strolling next to a golf course on a modern, paved path. The most historically notable building is the large, round white barn in the middle of the former farm. Constructed around 1902, it served as a grain storage silo, then in 1912 was converted into a two-story cow barn. The barn is considered the only surviving perfectly round barn in Colorado. Its exceptional construction and engineering are believed to have been the work of an itinerant carpenter. The John DeLaney family lived in the frame house near the entrance to the parking lot from Chambers Road. The small house to the right (south) at the edge of the property along Chambers Road is the Gully house, named for an Irish family that immigrated to Colorado in 1862. One of their eight children was Bridget, who married John DeLaney.
