One of the world’s largest natural warm springs, located on an isolated ranch in the foothills of the North Moccasin Mountains. This is a monster of a spring—almost 50,000 gallons per minute of crystal-clear, 68-degree-F water emerges from dozens of bubbling vents, forming a pool more than 100 yards in diameter. A 1927 USGS report, titled Large Springs in the United States, called Gigantic Springs “a spring of the first magnitude.” A sign posted by the pool in the 1980s boasted that Gigantic Springs was “considered to be the largest warm spring in the world, and the third largest spring of any size in the world.” Regardless of its true stature in the world battle for the title of largest spring, Gigantic Springs certainly ranks near the top. Gigantic Springs is a great family recreation spot. The relatively cool water temperature makes the springs especially popular on hot days. The hot springs are natural, but an artificial dam forms a large swimming pool.
