Nestled beside the banks of Clear Creek, below a mountain canyon, Golden is one of the oldest and most historic cities along the Front Range. To the east, two flat-topped mesas, North and South Table mountains, separate Golden from Denver’s sprawling western suburbs, allowing it to retain its historic charm and small-town size. This walking tour explores much of Golden’s colorful heritage. After the walk, experience some of Golden’s other offerings by taking the free Coors Brewery tour, visiting the unique Colorado Railroad Museum, and driving up Lookout Mountain to Buffalo Bill Cody’s gravesite. Special attractions: Golden DAR Pioneer Museum, American Alpine Club Museum and Library, Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, Astor House Museum, The Armory Building, 12th Street Historic Residential District, Colorado School of Mines, National Earthquake and Information Center, School of Mines Geology Museum, Foothills Art Center, and Clear Creek Living History Park.
