This walk follows paved trails and closed roadways through a long, narrow park located a few miles southeast of downtown Denver. The 162-acre park, offering welcome green space, sits in an old residential neighborhood. A couple of lakes—Smith Lake on the north side of the park and Grasmere Lake on the south—anchor respective ends. All roads through the park are closed to vehicular traffic, except for a short access road to a large parking area at Smith Lake. The roads are open to walkers, joggers, bicyclists, and rollerbladers. Several closed roads and trails lace the park, offering excellent walks that range from 1 to 2.5 miles. Special attractions: Smith Lake, Lake Grasmere, Smith’s Ditch Historic District, formal gardens, fishing, playground, jogging, rollerblading, and bicycling.
