City Park is Denver’s largest park. One mile long and three-quarters of a mile wide, it covers 317 acres. The lovely parkland encompasses two lakes, playgrounds, superb statuary, rose and flower gardens, picnic areas, several historic buildings, the 76-acre Denver Zoo, and the renowned Denver Museum of Natural History. Numerous paths and roadways thread among the park’s woodlands and meadows, offering walkers a serene urban park experience. The described walk begins at the Natural History Museum and explores the Ferril Lake area via several paved and gravel trails. Special attractions: Denver Museum of Natural History, Denver Zoo, Park Pavilion, outdoor sculptures, formal rose garden, flower beds, and fishing lake.
