This walk explores historic Larimer Square, Denver’s first designated historic district, and Lower Downtown (LoDo). LoDo was Denver’s warehouse district from the time that the railroad arrived here in 1870 until the end of World War II. Numerous excellent and well-preserved buildings line the sidewalks here, offering you a glimpse into Denver’s colorful past. Larimer Square, centered around a single block of Larimer St., preserves a slice of old Denver. Once a part of Denver’s infamous red-light district, with saloons, brothels, flophouses, and casinos, the renovated square now houses numerous chic shops and great restaurants. Special attractions: Writer’s Square, Larimer Square Historic District, Lower Downtown Historic District, Union Station, many historic buildings and warehouses, brew pubs, Coors Field.
