In the heart of downtown Denver, Civic Center Park is the best place to begin any exploration of Colorado’s largest city. Numerous points of interest surround the three square-block park, downtown’s largest, including three of Denver’s “must-see” attractions—the U.S. Mint, the Denver Art Museum, and the Colorado State Capitol. By beginning your walking adventures here, you can do some sightseeing, become acquainted with Denver’s public transportation system, pick up additional information at the Convention and Visitors Bureau, and discover some of the city’s colorful history. Civic Center Park is located just south of the downtown business district and its soaring skyscrapers. The park is an oasis of green grass and marvelous flower beds in summer, and holds an interesting assortment of statuary and monuments. Special attractions: Denver Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau, U.S. Mint, City and County Building, Denver Art Museum, Byers-Evans Historic House, Denver Public Library, Colorado History Museum, Colorado Supreme Court Building, Colorado State Capitol, war memorials, western statues.
