This is the only route, besides Going-to-the-Sun Road, that takes you from the east side of the Rocky Mountains to the west side through Glacier National Park. U.S. Highway 2 is a good, two-lane highway that follows the southern edge of Glacier National Park. In the 56 miles from East Glacier to West Glacier are a few stops to make the trip fun. The destinations include: Flathead River: The Middle Fork, Stanton Lake Trail, Izaak Walton Inn, Walton Ranger Station, Goat Lick Overlook, Marias Pass, and East Glacier Park and the Glacier Park Lodge.
