Beehive Basin sits in a bowl surrounded by mountains in the Spanish Peaks Primitive Area. At 9,200 feet, this top-of-the-world hike takes you to alpine meadows covered with wildflowers, tall stands of evergreens and a tributary of the Middle Fork of the Gallatin River. At the trail’s end are wide open vistas and an unnamed lake. From Four Corners 9 miles west of Bozeman, take Highway 191 south towards the Gallatin Canyon. Drive 33.8 miles to the Big Sky turnoff on the right. Turn right and continue 10.1 miles to the Beehive Basin turnoff on the right. (The turn is located 1.3 miles beyond the Big Sky Mountain Village turnoff and 30 yards before the Moonlight Basin Ranch entrance.)
