Deer Creek, a tributary of the Clark Fork of the Columbia River, flows through the Lolo National Forest east of Mount Sentinel and Pattee Canyon. Three tributaries flow into Deer Creek at its headwaters. This hike follows the Middle Fork of Deer Creek where it merges with the West Fork. The lush trail follows a regenerated logging road and heads upstream in a pristine forested drainage that is rich with wildflowers.
