The Rattlesnake Valley stretches northward out of Missoula, tucked between Mount Jumbo and the North Hills. Rattlesnake Creek, the centerpiece of the valley, cascades down canyon en route to the Clark Fork of the Columbia River. The drainage is part of the municipal watershed for the city of Missoula. This hike weaves along Rattlesnake Creek through city parks and natural areas with lush riparian vegetation. The trail offers views of Mount Jumbo, the North Hills, and the Rattlesnake Mountains
