If you first saw these massive white and red rocks back in the 1800s, what would you have called this place? Dedicated in 1909, the Garden of the Gods is a free city park comprised of 1,350 acres. Within this arid landscape lies a transitional life zone, a place were the Great Plains meets the Rocky Mountains. The plants and animals reflect the environment. Here, you will find the yucca and cacti of the western plains, the Ponderosa pine from the mountains, and abundant piƱon pine and juniper trees. Special attractions: Grand views, a chance to explore nature.
