In 1983, this largest collection of historic buildings in the Pikes Peak region was declared a National Historic District. Shaded in the summer by trees, perfumed in the spring by lilacs, and busy almost year round, Colorado City has become a major tourist attraction as well as a “respectable” night-on-the-town alternative for area residents. Special attractions: Almost one hundred specialty shops, unique restaurants, turn-of-the-century architecture, historic buildings.
