Until a few years ago, the old Washington Bridge spanned the east end of Riverfront Park in Billings. The iron bridge extended across the Yellowstone River from the south end of Washington Street. The bridge was originally built in 1 894, then replaced in the 1 950s. It was constructed across the river at the old Cummings Ferry Crossing by Washington Street to a 33- acre island in the river. Washington Street now dead-ends on the north side of Interstate 90. Citing safety reasons, the bridge was removed in 2005. This hike strolls along Grey Eagle Ditch, weaves through a verdant shaded forest with tree- filtered sunlight, and meanders along the Yellowstone River. This short but scenic trail can be combined with Hike 1 1 0 for a longer walk.
