A long day hike or extended backpack from Logan Pass. The Garden Wall section of the Highline Trail is one of the most popular hikes in the park, owing to its spectacular vistas, excellent wildlife-viewing opportunities, and low level of difficulty. The trail follows the west face of the Continental Divide, maintaining a relatively constant elevation, to Granite Park Chalet, which is currently being offered to hikers as a no-frills shelter. The campground at Granite Park is limited to backpackers on extended trips for most of the season. From Granite Park, the trail leads down to the Going-to-the-Sun Road, terminating at “the Loop,” the northernmost hairpin turn on the highway.A spur trail also leads from this trail to “Packer’s Roost,” farther down the mountainside.
