The Broad River Trail follows beautiful, cascading Dicks Creek and Middle Fork of the Broad River as they flow through the Lake Russell State Wildlife Management Area (WMA). The Tallulah Gorge area has a long history as a scenic area and summer resort, beginning in the mid-1880s. The park’s Jane Hurt Yarn Interpretive Center exhibits the rich history of the Victorian town of Tallulah Falls along with the rugged terrain and fragile ecosystem of the area. On July 18, 1970, aerialist Karl Wallenda crossed the gorge on a high wire.
