This state park is in the Ridge and Valley district of northwest Georgia, just to the south of the city of Summerville. The facility was named for local politician Sloppy Floyd, who served in the Georgia General Assembly from 1953 to 1974. The trail for both the waterfalls and the West Rim begins in the parking lot for the overlook and picnic area. The 0.25-mile path to the overlook is paved and wheelchair accessible. The trailhead is well marked. The West Rim Trail has white blazes, and the Falls Trail has yellow. You are cautioned to stay on the trail and not climb on rocks or around the waterfalls. The rocks can be very slippery and dangerous. Caution is also advised for people with heart problems and those in poor physical condition using the waterfalls stairway.
