Wildcat Campground is actually two rough and rustic areas located in the 12,600-acre Lake Burton Wildlife Management Area, contiguous to the Tray Mountain Wilderness. A single-lane road with turnouts traces Wildcat Creek and all but eliminates RVs from entering the area. The Forest Service banished roadside camping along Wildcat Creek and constructed these campgrounds to concentrate the impact of human visitors in two areas. The Lake Burton Wildlife Management Area is lightly used except during hunting season.
