The Ochlockonee River flows out of Georgia, then becomes dammed as Lake Talquin as it enters the Sunshine State. Much of Lake Talquin’s shoreline is preserved as Lake Talquin State Forest, which offers not only camping but also fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. True to its name, the campground is located on a commanding bluff rising a good 90 feet above Lake Talquin. Pines rise highest overhead, but you will probably notice the live oaks draped in Spanish moss and resurrection ferns that sway in the lake breeze.
