Considered one of the most important archeological sites in all the Keys, the 64-acre Crane Point hammock also contains the last virgin palm hammock in the United States. Particularly plentiful are the thatch palms which were cut down almost everywhere else to fashion roofs for homes and waterfront bars. With trails winding throughout the site, Crane Point also is the site of the Museum of Natural History, the Florida Keys Children’s Museum, and The Adderley Village Historic Site. Special Attractions: The rare surviving palm trees, the two museums and the old Bahamian village.
