Access to the alpine has never been easier. This moderate hike starting from Mount Washington Alpine Resort moves through subalpine forests and meadows to a series of lakes and scenic viewpoints. Two interconnected loops offer day-hiking possibilities, while trails above Lake Helen Mackenzie lead to numerous alpine and subalpine overnight destinations. These trails also provide access to an extensive set of hiking routes, including those leading to Mount Albert Edward, Castlecrag Mountain, and Moat Lake. This hike is full of superlatives, including glacier-fed lakes, snowcapped mountains, ice fields, and stunning views of surrounding mountain ranges from Mount Albert Edward and Cruickshank Canyon.
