A short interpretive stroll through a rain forest of giant western red cedar and hemlock. The Pacific winds carry moisture across the Columbia Mountains. When the winds cool they drop rain in the summer and snow in winter, nourishing this rain forest of western hemlock and western red cedar. The smell and the sounds alone make this stroll worthwhile, and you’ll be moved by both before you even enter the trail. Ascend the steps, where you’ll be met by interpretive signs identifying the major plant and animal species that thrive here—including the long-eared bat. A creek sits off to your left (south), and you can hear it trickling throughout your walk. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
