This easy backpacking trip skirts the Ottertail River, ending with prime views of Mount Goodsir, the Goodsir Glacier, and Sentry Peak. If you want to get to the good views faster, consider mountain biking the Ottertail Trail. This fire road’s gentle incline offers an easy, pleasant trip—whether you’re riding or hoofing it. The trail skirts the Ottertrail River on your right (south) and crosses a number of small creeks as it winds gradually upward through a forest of lodgepole pine, trembling aspen, and spruce. Early in the season, the trail may be quite muddy; we noticed several mud slides mid-trail when we hiked here in June. But because it’s south facing, it’s also one of the first longer trails in Yoho to become snow free. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
