Like the Slesse Mountain Trail in the next valley to the west, this is a climbers’ access route. It is another Paul Binkert trail, therefore it is steep and demanding. Recent small logging operations have been no friend to the trail, despite British Columbia Forest Service assurances to “put the trail back into its original condition” after the cut. So why bother? This trip takes you into a rocky, alpine, pocket wilderness. The route traverses under the west wall of South Illusion Peak. Behind you as you ascend is a profile of Slesse’s northeast buttress: one of North America’s fifty classic climbs. Your objective is the open rocky shoulder beneath Mount Rexford’s west ridge: a boulder-strewn heather meadow with a gorgeous aspect. At most times there is no running water in this area. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
