Do not be misled by the moderate-looking statistics for this outing—in its early stages the trail ascends steeply on bluffs above the falls. Try to choose a clear, sunny day for this hike since its views are superb—of the falls themselves, of the Tantalus Range to the southwest and, on the return trip, of the upper Squamish River and the peaks on the divide between the Squamish and Ashlu Rivers. Clear day or not it is an attractive trail, with some glorious moss gardens to admire: yellow and bronze on the rocks and bright green in the depths of the forest. To make a loop, you can descend by the road rather than reversing your ascent route.
