A rough, challenging trail traveling through forest, ending at a cabin, with views of a glacial lake and Eagle Glacier. A forest hike with ups and downs, the trail to Eagle Lake ends with a suddenly opening out on a grand view of Eagle Lake, the wild peaks and waterfalls above it, and Eagle Glacier as it twists its way down the canyon at the head of the lake. Also known as the Eagle Lake Trail, the hike follows the route of what was once a horse tramway and trail leading to the now-vanished mining settlement of Amalga, which had its heyday from about 1905 to 1927.
