This is a wide, multiuse trail in a beautiful subalpine basin with views of mountains, streams, and waterfalls combined with historic mining ruins, all within walking distance of downtown Juneau. Hikers, runners, and mountain bikers all use the wide, graded, popular Perseverance Trail in the Gold Creek valley above Juneau. The valley is the site of the 1880 gold discovery that led to the founding of the city; the trail runs along the old wagon road to the Perseverance Mine, first traveled in 1889.
