These trails are among the most popular in the area and travel by old-growth forest, Ward Creek and Ward Lake. Although these are Ketchikan’s most popular trails, it’s still possible to enjoy the quiet of an old-growth forest, relax by a beautiful creek, and hear and glimpse wildlife on these short trails. You can do the Ward Lake Nature Trail, a 1.3-mile loop, the Ward Creek Trail, about 2.5 miles one way, or a combination of the two by circling Ward Lake and backtracking on the Ward Creek Trail, adding up to about 6 miles round-trip.
