A hike for all activity levels with minimal elevation gain and views of Byers Lake and the Alaska Range on clear days. The easy hike around Byers Lake makes a good day trip, but there is also a walk-in fee cabin, Cabin #2, and a backcountry camping area, the Lakeshore Camp, for overnighters. Day hiking the lake while staying in the Byers Lake Campground or in the fee cabin on the campground road (Cabin #1) is a good option too. The trailhead is in the Byers Lake Campground in Denali State Park, Mile 147 of the Parks Highway, about 14 miles north of the Chulitna River Bridge and 17 miles south of the Little Coal Creek Trailhead. Turn east off the Parks Highway onto the campground road and drive 0.6 mile to the boat-launch parking area on the right.
