On this moderate hike you start out on Creek Road, an abandoned railroad grade that parallels White Clay Creek and leads you to a trail that takes you to the Arc Monument, an engraved monolith that marks the boundary between Pennsylvania and Delaware. On your way to the monument, you pass an old springhouse where you can hear and see the cold, clear water bubbling from the earth. After the monument the trail passes through a magnificent pine plantation, where the forest floor is covered with a thick layer of pine needles that makes you feel as if you’re walking on a plush carpet. Then it’s downhill to the banks of White Clay Creek, where you can stop and watch fishermen try their luck with the rainbow and brown trout that are stocked in the creek each spring.
