Although this is called an historic trail, the historical artifacts are sparse. Some old moss-covered beams and a box of tin relics are found at the side of the trail at the far end of the upper loop at the END OF TRAIL sign. The interpretive sign at the trailhead describes the immensity of the undertaking of building an 11-mile-long, 5-foot-wide log flume. As the demand for more giant trees grew, logging companies ventured deeper into the forest, as the easy-picking riverside trees had all been plucked.
