A compact but vertical loop in the mountains west of Denver, this fun outing takes you from creek to creek, canyon to canyon, with some minor mountains in between. Quick but satisfying, painful but relaxing, pretty and mountainous, and not too far from the Big City. Starting from down in Bear Creek Canyon, the first order of business is climbing up and over Myers Gulch Road. It’s a nice little wake-up call, nothing too severe. It climbs about 600 feet in 2.5 miles. When you see the Pence Park lot and sign, you’re at the top.
